Urdu Ghar’s new fortnightly programme on books on Urdu written in English With its outreach approach, the Anjuman will start a new fortnightly programme on books on Urdu written in English. This will be aired every second and last Saturday of the month at 9.30 p.m. (IST). The programme will be of interest to those who love Urdu literature but cannot read it in the original script. The first programme will be streamed online on 27 February 2021 on the Urdu Ghar and Anjuman Facebook pages. The programme will be hosted by the eminent scholar, Mohammad Asim Siddiqui, Professor at the Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University. Although his formal training is in English, he was brought up in an Urdu-rich culture. Professor Siddiqui often writes in English on Urdu writers and poets. He may, if he so feels, occasionally deviate from the central theme of the programme, that is Urdu language and literature in English, and address other issues he believes are important, such as writers who have written in English or a writer or a book with no direct relation with Urdu. To choose a book or a theme is the sole prerogative of Professor Siddiqui. It is his sacred space and the Anjuman will honour it. We hope our audience likes this initiative. We look forward to your presence at the programme. Please visit our website www.atuh.org
