Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind) started a fortnightly ‘Hamari Zaban’ on 1 April 1931.
The journal highlighted the activities of different branches of the organization and centre-staged its aims and objectives. Besides news of the Urdu world, it published articles on literature and linguistics. However, HamariZaban was discontinued for a period of two years after Partition and began which resumed again in 1950. It was converted into a weekly in 1957.
Dr Ather Farouqui is currently the editor of Hamari Zaban as well. It is perhaps the only Urdu newspaper whose files are maintained by a number of its readers across the world.
