Ather Farouqui a pioneering scholar of Urdu education, celebrated author, and translator, holds a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University. His seminal works include the play Marx My Word (2015), The Life and Poetry of Bahadur Shah Zafar (trans., 2017), Muslims and Media Images (ed., 2009), Redefining Urdu Politics in India (ed., 2006), Delhi in Historical Perspectives (trans., 2020), and The Last Gathering (trans., 2021). Currently, Farouqui is the General Secretary of Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind), the most venerated Urdu organization worldwide.
