The Dr Saiyedna Saifuddin Auditorium @ Urdu Ghar: An Introductory Note
The Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind) proudly introduces the Dr Saiyedna Saifuddin Auditorium @ Urdu Ghar, which is an advanced and meticulously designed venue at par with the best auditoriums and lecture halls in New Delhi. The SSA has been designed in a bespoke manner to exclusively host the distinguished programmes that the Anjuman is renowned for.
We have recently revitalised the SSA to elevate every aspect of the audience’s experience and have equipped it with high-fidelity lighting and acoustics, thereby creating an impeccable environment for lectures, dramatic performances, book launches and diverse cultural gatherings. The SSA boasts a high-resolution projector and an expansive screen, both of which can be operated remotely. The backstage-controlled curtain system ensures seamless scene changes and transitions. Additionally, the recently introduced live broadcasting facilities will allow us to expand our reach beyond the physical venue and will connect us with a broader audience in real time.
The newest addition is the adjoining green room, which serves as a private space for speakers and performers, while the centralised climate control system guarantees an ideal and almost uniform atmosphere throughout the year. Considering the extreme temperatures that Delhi experiences, this feature is one of the USPs of the SSA. With a seating capacity of 130, it features luxurious Volvo seating, which is exceptionally comfortable, even during extended engagements. Older audiences and those who are differentially abled will also find it comfortable. A ramp for disabled access is in the works, but the Urdu Ghar building that houses the SSA is already accessible and equipped with these facilities.
The Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind)’s purpose in upgrading the Dr Saiyedna Saifuddin Auditorium @ Urdu Ghar exemplifies our conviction to create an unparalleled space for intellectual engagement and cultural enrichment as well as communicate our steadfast dedication to promoting theatre, art and literature in the city. It takes forward the torch handed over by Sir Syed, Dr Zakir Husain, Maulana Azad and all the luminaries from the Anjuman’s storied history whose vision for Urdu and the secular and inclusive ethos of our nation continues to guide our efforts.
