Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind) has a rich collection of books and manuscripts at its Shibli Memorial Library.
With Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind)’s appeal in 1936 for the donation of Urdu books along with the purchase of several rare books made by the organisation itself, Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind) was able to build in a short span of time an enviable collection of Arabic, Persian and Urdu manuscripts and rare books which led to the organisation being known as one of most important libraries of India. A standing which it maintains to this day.
Located at the 3rd floor of Urdu Ghar, Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind)’s library is now a treasure house of books and manuscripts, drawing research scholars from across the globe. A descriptive catalogue of the library’s Persian scripts was prepared in 1999 by the Persian Research Centre of the Iran Cultural House.
Rekhta.org (a web portal) acquired its first corpus from the library of Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind) in 2013, when Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu (Hind) allowed Rekhta to scan all the books for its website.
